Queen's Health System Clinical Pharmacist - Investigational Research (Full-Time, 40, Day) in Honolulu, Hawaii
RESPONSIBILITIES
I. JOB SUMMARY/RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Coordinates investigational drug service and has administrative oversight over operational duties such as drug compounding and dispensing conducted by pharmacy staff.
• As a member of the pharmacy team, performs responsibilities which enhance the reputation and service-orientation of the pharmacy department.
II. TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
• Standing, sitting, stooping, bending, walking, finger dexterity, seeing, hearing, speaking.
• Frequent: pushing/pulling usual weight of up to 40 pounds of force, lifting or carrying up to 30 pounds, reaching above, at and below shoulder level, frequent gripping of an object.
• Continuous: repetitive arm/hand motions.
• Occasional: kneeling, crawling, climbing stairs, walking on uneven ground, squatting, static gripping of an object for prolonged periods, pushing/pulling usual weight of up to maximum 50 pounds.
III. TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:
• Not substantially subject to adverse environmental conditions.
• Subjected to noise/vibration from air conditioner, printers, time stamp machines, pneumatic tubes, telephone, etc.
• Exposure to hazardous drugs, antibiotics, chemicals, dust, odors and cleaning/ disinfectant fumes.
• Work environment is fast paced, congested and may be stressful due to workload.
• Interacts with patients, nurses, physicians, other healthcare professional, and the general public as needed.
• Works on multiple tasks at the same time.
• May be exposed to communicable diseases.
IV. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
A. EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION AND LICENSURE:
• Current Hawaii State license as a Pharmacist.
• Doctor of Pharmacy degree or Bachelor’s of Science in Pharmacy degree.
• Completion of a PGY1 and/or PGY2 residency or equivalent practice experience
from accredited by the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists preferred.
• Investigational Drug residency or fellowship preferred.
B. EXPERIENCE:
• Two (2) years of experience as an inpatient pharmacist in a teaching medical center or pharmacist in a clinical research setting, including experience with investigational drug dispensing and/or protocol management or oversight.
• Comprehensive knowledge of medical terminology as related to drug usage.
• Excellent interpersonal and professional skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to provide education and training to all levels of the health care team.
• Experience in medication dispensing and IV services preferred.
