The Senior Director of Order to Cash is responsible for establishing and executing all Order to Cash functions of the company (Credit, Collections and Accounts Receivable), which supports an Accounts Receivable portfolio of $1.9 Billion consisting of 170,000 customers representing $24 billion in annual sales volume for US Foods. Their primary objective is to achieve a balance between minimizing credit risk and optimizing working capital while also promoting market share growth through collaboration with Sales and Leadership. The Senior Director will be responsible for organizing, planning, and managing all AR and Credit functions of the organization. They will develop and maintain standard processes, workflows and reporting tools to maximize efficiency and the effective use of resources in managing the total AR portfolio. They will also identify and respond to performance or risk trends. The Senior Director will provide overall leadership for the AR and Credit functions of the Order to Cash organization. They will ensure compliance with Corporate Credit Policy, Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX), and the internal control environment for the credit and AR departments. Additionally, this role will lead a team of high-performing leaders to meet department targets in areas such as efficiency, effectiveness, customer satisfaction, and employee engagement. The Senior Director will also establish and maintain strategic partnerships with an offshore management partner, ensuring seamless coordination and communication across offshore teams.

This position is been determined to be “Remote Anywhere”: The work is completed 100% remote anywhere in the U.S. except Hawaii or United States Territories.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Strategic Planning – 35%

  • Budget ownership and fiscal year planning for the function inclusive of all org planning and operating expenses. Manage a total annual budget of $23MM

  • Coordinate and collaborate with internal, external, and cross-functional teams, including managing a third-party offshore managed services partner.

  • Design analytics that provide efficient and effective information for management of the AR portfolio and insight on performance or risk trends. Reports should provide insight to support root cause analysis for continuous improvement activities. Examples of key metrics and performance trends; % Current, DSO, Past Due & High-Risk Accounts, Bad Debt Reserve & Write-Offs, 3rd Party Collection, Credit Hold, NSF activity, Policy exceptions, ACH utilization, and Cash Application metrics and statistics.

  • Establish and maintain a standard workflow for the credit and AR organizations that supports efficient and effective use of resources.

  • Assist inside/outside counsel with large bankruptcy proceedings.

  • Focus on identifying process improvement initiatives and implementation of best practices and technology solutions to advance the efficiency and effectiveness of Credit and AR organizations.

  • Refine organizational structure to leverage synergies across various processes and advance the value of the team.

  • Develops and maintains strong business partnerships internally and externally through delivery of best-in-class performance.

  • Build and foster a collaborative network with the purpose of strengthening alignment, sharing best practices and driving communication.

  • Provide thought leadership to internal customers and connect externally in the assigned region to hear the voice of the customer.

  • Build, track and share standard KPIs for the team ensuring they are consistently driving towards excellence and meeting the needs of the functions and associates supported.

  • Define talent strategy inclusive hiring/recruiting, performance management and succession planning aimed at securing and retaining the best talent for all roles in support of the future vision.

  • Establish and deploy an effective training strategy for all roles, including onboarding and continuous education. Collaborate as needed with the Learning & Development team to determine and ensure the right training content and delivery approach.

  • Collaborate to build future vision for the function driven by stakeholder feedback, developing roadmaps for future technology and benchmarking in support of the vision. Ability to create and sell a business case inclusive of budgeting, required resources, and ROI.

People Leadership – 30%

  • Lead a team of Directors and Senior Managers with accountability for the leadership team and all individual contributor associates.

  • Recruit, onboard, and train new associates.

  • Provide regular feedback to associates and develop top talent while embracing our core values.

  • Provide coaching, best practice sharing, and identify developmental needs on an individual basis.

  • Ensure expectations both quantitative and qualitative are set and reviewed on an on-going basis. Participate in regular performance review discussions.

  • Foster an environment of accountability and celebrate successes. Ensure associates are set up for success in all aspects of their role including their development for future roles.

  • Ability to manage a larger team with varying skill levels from people managers to entry level individual contributors.

  • Ensure established training protocols are delivered for cross training support work and standardized processes for absorbing new work into the shared services model.

  • Motivate team and set aspirational goals through departmental leadership, meetings, and one on one communications.

Continuous Improvement / Project Delivery – 30%

  • Standardize business processes utilizing automated tools where appropriate. Fully understand and leverage this functionality to improve workflow efficiency and quality measures.​

  • Ensure adaption and review compliance to SOPs. Execute best-in-class methodologies such as quality performance, training initiatives and associate scheduling leveraged by driving operational efficiencies to improve workstream activity.

  • Deliver functional projects as assigned, focused on technology and processes relevant to our established strategic roadmap. Continuously seek opportunities for synergy, improvement, simplification and automation of existing processes, technology, reporting, etc.

  • Conduct regular role effectiveness reviews across the function, seeking feedback from key stakeholders for continued improvement. Manage survey process for both internal and external customers to ensure satisfaction.

  • Focus on process improvement through technology; think strategically about new initiatives, participate in researching new technology selections.

  • Ensure best practices are identified for both process and technology through benchmarking across the team and externally. Identify opportunities for improvement of existing functionality.

  • Research and analyze data to draw conclusions, identify trends and uncover potential issues. Use this knowledge to develop and bring forward recommendations.

  • Lead frontline management to be aligned with best-in-class methodologies such as quality performance, training initiatives and associate scheduling leveraged by driving operational efficiencies to improve workstream activity.

Personal Development – 5%

  • Engage in formal US Foods performance management process.

  • Pursue learning and development initiatives and providing updates to personal Individual Development Plan (IDP) and prepare for check-ins with your leader.

  • Strive to learn and benchmark against industry trends and be engaged in industry peer groups.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Remote : This role is fully remote, and the associate is expected to perform assigned responsibilities from a home-based environment.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Fifteen (15) years of related experience in credit, collections, risk management and accounts receivable

  • Ten (10) years of management and leadership experience including evidence of developing a high performing team.

  • Experience in managing an international relationship, leveraging global resources and ensuring effective communication across borders.

  • Navigate cross cultural dynamics and coordinate efforts with teams located in different geographical locations.

  • Extensive experience and knowledge of credit, collection, bankruptcy, risk management, finance, and internal controls.

  • Demonstrated leadership skills focused on inspiring associates and developing future leaders.

  • Outstanding verbal communication and interpersonal skills

  • Demonstrated ability influencing multiple stakeholders at various levels in the organization, external customers, and vendors.

The following information is provided in accordance with certain state and local laws. Compensation depends on experience, geographic locations, and other factors permitted by law. In Colorado, the expected compensation for this role is between $135,000 and $175,000 per year. In New York City, the expected compensation for this role is between $160,000 and $210,000 per year. In California, the expected compensation for this role is between $150,000 and $195,000 per year. In Washington, the expected compensation for this role is between $150,000 and $195,000 per year. This role is also eligible for annual incentive plan bonus and long-term incentive program.
